Spirit
The quill box’s shape and image given to it by its maker have a certain spirit around it; the spirit seems to be that of the natural world. Delia Beboning has the ability to give the objects she makes different spirits and does so to full effect with this quill box (Williams 2008). On the lid, there are two flowers that can be seen dancing in the rain around them. Decorated by the flower design and coupled with the heart shape, the quill box is a living object that produces a feeling of happiness and togetherness, as well as the feeling of Spring. The spirit given to the quill box allows it to be living, which in turn allows for the feelings that emanate from it to be felt by people and the natural world around it. The spirit of the quill box, gifted to it by Delia Beboning, is unique to it because of these qualities.
